Day 3 – 27th December 2009

The third day in HK was practically the worst for me. I didn’t sleep too well the night before because of abdominal pains, which kinda left me zombie-like for the rest of the morning. -_- Just before we left the hotel, Drew thought it’d be best if I popped in one more medication pill. Thank goodness the pain subsided for a couple of hours afterwards – long enough for me to actually have the mood for breakfast. :)

We searched the whole of City Hall to find Maxim’s Palace, where it is dubbed “the best dim sum experience in HK”. The decor of the place was almost an eye sore because it was SO yellow (as seen in the picture above)! The dim sum was delicious though – one of the best I’ve ever tasted but too bad my stomach wasn’t at its best shape, so I wasn’t much of a glutton that morning.

After breakfast, we took the tram to the Wan Chai.

Image04

Aside from the Star Ferry, the tram rides were very enjoyable as well. It was also relatively cheaper to travel this way since every ride cost HK$2 regardless of the distance travelled (unlike the MTR).

And omg how I love lovee the designs of the trams. :p

Image06

We were also able to witness the city in a different perspective as we always sat at the higher bunk of the tram. :)

Image05

Unfortunately, as I mentioned before.. I experienced the worst of my food poisoning that day. So instead of gallavanting around happily, I was mostly in a fetal position crying out in pain. T_T By 3pm, I was back at the hotel again for a nap.

It’s depressing how I always find myself sick when I’m on trips. Last year in Japan, my sinus problem was in full bloom because I was somewhat allergic to the room I was in. Then while I was in Brisbane the year before that, I was down with a fever because of its crazy weather. I can’t remember what happened in Austria, but Drew is pretty sure I was digging into his medication bag then too wtf. -_- Super fail or not, you tell me? T_T

Thankfully I was better by dinner time and we were off to The Landmark for some serious shopping aka miracle cure hahah. :D

Image07

The thing I realized when I was in HK was that everywhere I went (read: EVERYWHERE), there were about 3-4 international designer boutiques in one place. I swear while I was Mong Kok alone, albeit the hundreds of shops they have there.. I saw about 10 (maybe 15) Gucci/Prada/Louis Vuitton/Balenciaga/Dior/you get my point lah. o_O

So naturally, I was attracted to ‘em like how an insect is attracted to street lights. And for the first time, I made Drew line up outside the boutique with me eheh. :p I used to make fun of ppl who did so and said they had too much free time wtf I’m such a hypocrite lah T_T but what joy when I found out that the Gucci bag my mum and I were eyeing on back home was a few hundred bucks cheaper in HK! Sigh, so worth it to be called a hypocrite wtf.

Called Mum and we agreed to purchase the Sukey tote in white. To be honest, I was actually in for the D Gold instead.. but since Mum was the one paying, oh well the Sukey will do too. :)

For Day 4..

Day 4 – 28th December 2009

I was feeling much MUCH better! :)

Image10

Like typical tourists, we opted to visit the markets on Yuen Po Street that morning. It was definitely a contrast to the other days before because this time, the streets were quiet and the air was actually fresh except when we entered the Bird Market. (FYI, the API in HK is close to 100 at times T_T)

Image09

I especially liked the Flower Market. :) There, the price of a dozen of roses range from HK$20-HK$30. Damn cheap lah (even after conversion)!

Image11

Breakfast was at some random noodle shop Drew’s mum walked into where they also served the best tasting “yu pang” i.e.: fishcake everr! At first, the shop was completely empty when we entered. Then about 15 minutes later, it was a full house so I guess we were at one of the best local dine-in. :)

Image12

I can’t tell you exactly where this shop is located at, but here’s the name of it. I’m sorry but I can’t translate it for you  either because I am a hopeless case of banana. (Sam, help please?) But if you’re ever in HK, I strongly recommend for you to try the fishcakes. :p

Image13

It was back to Central for us after lunch as we hunted for the best egg tart shop i.e.: Tai Cheong Bakery. One tart here cost about HK$3.5 each. A little pricey in my opinion but heck it tasted so damn good!

Image13

Fresh from the oven every morning! Even the aroma of it was so good that we immediately gobbled it down right in front of the shop.

Image15

More shopping! :D

After much contemplations, I’m finally a proud owner of the Harmonie Longchamp thanks to Drew.

Image16

Harbour City was the last and biggest mall we went to before we made our way to Disneyland. Located right next to the Star Ferry terminal, it houses about 700 shops damn crazy my legs were about to fall off when we were done walking. T_T

Image17

Habour City also has the largest Toys ‘R Us store in HK, so yes he was such a happy boy afterwards.

Image18

Before it got dark, we took the Star Ferry back to Kowloon and made our way to Disneyland via the MTR.

Image19

I had a herbal tea egg for HK$4 wtf damn expensive! T_T But it was really cold when I got onto the ferry and the egg kept my hands warm so whatever lah. -_-

Image19

And we were here! On the happiest place on earth! :D

Ignore the grains on the picture because the battery on my Lomo ran out so there was no flash. -_-

Image21

Once again, we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel. :) Drew took this picture while I was pouting because I was damn tired lah and he still damn stubborn wanna snap here snap there. >(

Image22

A simple dinner and a glass of wine to end the night.

***

YAY! One more last blog post on HK Disneyland coming up then I’ll be off on a six-day cruise with Ben, Yu Min, Drew and his grandmother this Friday. :)

Joy.
