Hong Kong – Day 1 & 2
Filed Under Holiday, Hong Kong, Photography | 5 Comments

Day 1 – December 25th 2009
We arrived at Nikko Hotel (located at Tsim Sha Tsui) at approximately 3.30pm feeling already quite beaten up because our flight was at 9.30am, thus forcing us to be at the KLIA airport by 6.30am wtf. But, it was Hong Kong! And it was winter, so daylight was precious (it gets dark at about 5pm)! I quickly freshened up and since we were starving, we opted for the first restaurant we saw.

Yummy yummy Peking duck! Btw, food is fucking expensive in HK. T_T Everytime the bill came, I swear I felt like barfing everything out and ask for a refund instead wtf. But of course, the meals were absolutely delicious nonetheless.

After having our tummies filled, it was off to our first stop – Mong Kok. The weather was relatively hot on our first day in HK that even a leather jacket seemed a little thick for my liking. But after a while, as we walked..the wind chill was brr and I wished I brought my scarf out too instead. -_-

See, told you it turned dark damn fast.
Half an hour after we left the hotel, the whole of Mong Kok was lited up with all its shops’ neon lights. I personally loved walking around Mong Kok because its so lively during the day and night with so many little shops everywhere!
I bought my 100ml DKNY Fresh Blossom at SASA for RM220 (after conversion) when back in Msia, it was selling for RM290! Damn happy~ :)

Drew and I were lunging around three cameras with us. -_- As if two DSLRs weren’t enough, I had to bring my Lomo Fisheye too. But some of the pictures turned out to be so pretty, so no regrets lah. :)

Lining up for smelly taufu!

But here’s what happened after I consumed my first authentic chow tau fu: I had freaking DIARRHEA the next day WTF I swear I wanted to jump into the South China Sea to DIEEE! T___T
Contrary to that, I somehow doubt it was the smelly taufu because Drew ate it too and he was walking around just fine without having to go off to the loo every half an hour to lau sai. T_T Instead, I think it was the cup noodle I had later on that night for supper but Drew (and my parents) say that its quite impossible to get food poisoning from it. =\ But whatever lah, the whole point is that my butt hole was fucking sore for the next two days and I had to come back to the hotel to nap for an hour each day because of the very painful tummy cramps fml.
The only silver lining to this tragic tragedy is that I ate very minimally throughout the trip and lost some weight.
YES lah! (y)

For Day 2..

Day 2 – December 26th 2009
We decided to not take the MTR this time to travel from Kowloon (where Tsim Sha Tsui is at) to HK Island like how we always do.
P/s: I still look alright here because I wasn’t stricken with any horrendous pain yet.

Instead, we hopped onto the Star Ferry which was much cheaper and had a prettier view. :)

For lunch, we were on a quest to look for this particular noodle shop located at Wellington Street, Central District. In the picture above is the Central-Mid-Levels-escalator (behind us), which is basically an escalator that goes as far as 800m, linking the Central and Western District in HK Island.

See, because HK Island is super duper hilly and has loads of steep slopes..this escalator was built for a more convenient commute system! How brilliant! :D I enjoyed every second while I was on the escalator because of the views like this one. :)

Getting off to walk.

Lunch was wantan mee at Mak’s Noodle Restaurant with the Mak family. :) Because of it’s name, Drew’s dad was very persistent to dine in this restaurant. Apparently, the dishes here have received many awards and many reviews have been written for it.

Still can smile big big because diarrhea yet to be triggered wtf.

Drew made me do all the map reading for this trip. Said it was good training because my bearings super cannot make it at times. -_-

I found H&M unexpectedly and was damn happy lah! :D But because it was winter, EVERYTHING was not suitable to buy home for the crazy Malaysian weather wtf can go into depression. T_T

Err, I think we bought something. Can’t remember what though.

Hui Lau Shan sells THE BEST MANGO DESSERT everrr! Thanks to blogs like Suet Li’s, Cheesie’s and Pinkpau’s..I was sure to be on a look out for this shop. Drew loved it so much that he became their loyal customer just after two days!
Malaysia should franchise!

This was when it all started lah. The diarrhea, I mean. :( Halfway walking through Sogo, the pain was so excrutiating that I became damn sensitive to light and sound (no exeggeration here). I felt so nauseated that I had to run off to the toilet to throw up my lunch. T_T
After an hour or so, I still didn’t feel any better so Drew decided that I was to head back to the hotel to be medicated first. Once back, I took some pills and KO-ed for about two hours. Sigh, how wasted eyh? :(

Later that night, I felt a little better so we headed out to Wellington Street (again) for some famous duck/goose. The restaurant was so packed, there was a 45-minute wait. So we decided to ta-pau instead and ate in the comfort of our hotel room.

That pretty summarizes Day 1 and 2 of our trip. Will blog about the rest soon! :)
